This village is Sri Anna’s Avathara Sthalam and his ancestral home is the abode of Sri Rama that was worshipped by Sri Anna’s ancestors for centuries, fondly called the Koodathu Ramar. Sri Krishnasuri (Periyavachaan Pillai) was Sri Anna’s ancestor about 900 yrs back who is popular for his commentary on 4000 Divya Prabandham.
Periyavachan Pillai was an ardent devotee of Lord Srinivasa and constructed a temple for Lord Srinivasa. There’s a mutt for Sri Periyavachaan Pillai. Sri Anna built a small and beautiful temple for Pandurangan and opposite to the temple is Ramanuja Koodam a place for Bakthas to stay when they visit for utsavams.
Periyavachan Pillai was born on Avani Rohini and Sri Anna too was born the same day [Rohini star – Tamil month of Avani] in Senganur. There is a procession of Periyavachan Pillai from Srinivas temple to the Mutt. Sri Anna celebrates Rama Navami Utsavam for 3 days in Senganur and Brahmasri Venkatarama Bagavathar used to perform the Sita Kalyana Mahotsavam and currently by Sri Ramakrishna Bagavathar. Every year 26th January, Kalyana utsavam is performed for Lord Srinivasa and Panduranga.
